Chickens in the snow, Lewes (earlier this year)

From Lewespeople:
As such many schools could still be closed
this week, ditto roads and trains (for details on the current status for all
see the links below) and expect (or hope) to find the gritters out late at
night. Currently we have dusting of snow but nothing too hazardous.
Check on your elderly neighbours, they may
need a loan of a heater or two, or even just some warm food or a blanket.
Stock up on the staples, bread, milk and a
bar of chocolate too. Speaking of chocolate if you are planning that ‘non-essential
journey’ make sure you have a fully charged mobile with you, along with a
warning board, flask of tea and a bar of the sweet stuff
Animals also suffer when temperatures
plummet (see), so it may be worth leaving out some food for them
and checking on the water supplies for any animals you keep outside (such as
chickens).
This being Lewes though (the town seems to have
its own micro-climate being nestled in the Downs) the really bad weather will
doubtless not occur here, probably much to the relief of those shops
participating in the late night shopping on Thursday.
Nonetheless, to be forewarned to be
forearmed.
