The end for England

So, that is that for England's World Cup
-
World Cup dreams
2010 dreams.
Allegiances will now be spread far and wide and meanwhile, no doubt, football will still
manage to dominate the television schedules.
In Lewes the football hurrahs were managed in different ways.
The Lansdown indulged in some trickery that meant that the sound of the
vuvuzelas was drowned out - meaning that locals watching there escaped
tinnitus.
However, some over-zealous fans in the town led to some publicans deciding to
close after the England game on Sunday (warning was given). Xenophobic behaviour and
language was deemed not to be appropriate for neither the pubs, their staff
nor their neighbours and as a cautionary measure a voluntary edict to close
the doors was taken.
There were some grumbles about the decision by some in town but, presumably,
they were not the ones that had been causing drunken troubles in Lewes (thankfully these were not violent).
All of which begs the questions: would a higher alcohol purchase price reduce
drunken behaviour and whose liability is it to police such behaviour - the
publicans or the authorities.
For those who whinged about the publicans choice to close, would they have been
peeved to have paid for the cost for the police to clean up after the event.
