Lewes District Council wants your thoughts on plastic bags and solicit you to complete a new online survey it has launched.

On the website the LDC say they are: "committed to eliminating the use of plastic

bags. They are a symbol of our modern throwaway lifestyle and contribute

to litter. We already have several local businesses pledge their

support and we’d like more to join in."

Whilst their efforts to aid the enviromnal push are to be welcomed one thing I have found frustrating about the town is the lack of recycling points that are easy to walk to within Lewes. This is especially true for cardboard which seems to be contrary to claims of being a 'green town'

What are your thoughts, let us know...

I just received a large colour pamphlet through the post asking me to give my thoughts on LDC efforts in promoting recycling. well, my thoughts were why are you sending out an expensive pamphlet in a year that will see huge cuts to your budget. I wouldn't want them in charge of my money - oops! they already are in a way!

The plastic bags are so flimsy now, you may as well not have one. They always seem to split...you can buy some great 'bag for life' bags on the high street which look great and last.
