EIGHT members of the Lewes Wanderers Cycling Club headed to Shoreham to take part in a fun event designed to raise money for the Ropetackle Art Centre.
The evening, organised by Lewes star Rob Pelham on behalf of the new Giant Cycle Centre at Shoreham, consisted of a high-tech virtual reality knock-out race on static bikes, which was beamed on to a large cinema screen before a raucous and packed audience.
The event itself provided splendid entertainment on the night with the Lewes squad all performing well. Nick Dwyer reached the semi-final and was matched against former Lewes rider Felix English, who is now a member of the professional cycling team Rapha Condor.
In an exciting race-off, English pipped Dwyer to reach the final.
In the other semi, Sarah Dwyer put in a brave performance against young Liam Yates, the latest in the Yates family cycling pedigree lineage, with Liam securing a final place.
Felix English won the final showdown in a well-contested final and was rewarded with a generous prize donated from the Giant store.
