Hearing of man accused of murder in South Chailey

The hearing took place this morning of Nathan Vaughan-Jones who is accused of the murder of a man believed to be Nigel Ross, Mr Vaughan-Jones’s step-father.

The murder took place on Tuesday at Mill Lane, South Chailey, the man – still to be formally identified, died of multiple stab wounds.

Mr Vaughan-Jones, 33-years-old, normally resides outside of the UK but had been staying with a family member in Mill Lane. Mr Ross, a 63-year-old, hailed from Maresfield.

The man, who was declared dead at the scene was found on the driveway of the South Chailey address. Police and ambulance were called to Mill Lane just after 4pm on Tuesday.

Sussex Police's Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Jeremy Graves said: "This is a tragic incident for all involved and the full circumstances are still being unraveled.
