A member of the newly reformed Seaford Bonfire Society (SBS) could lose the sight in one of her eyes after she was injured during Lewes Bonfire night.

Marilyn Binning, from Seaford, was holding a banner at the front of the procession when a firework was dropped in the street, and was among the estimated 170 people hurt in the event that attracted some 60,000 people to the county town.
South East Coast Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance said most were relatively minor injuries. Some 22 people were taken to hospital.
SBS held their home-town celebrations in the costal town in October, an event that saw several of the six Lewes societies march in the grand procession with them.
Given the number of people who march or watch the Lewes event the number of injuries was relatively small, especially considering that it fell on a Saturday.
SBS member Kevin Gordon, who was marching with Binning, said, "She was hit by debris and dropped the banner and the procession stopped while we sought medical attention."
The Lewes display is the biggest and the best in Sussex, and possibly the country, and is known for outrageous costumes, smugglers, fire and amazing effigies – this year one of the centrepiece ones was the former Colonel Gaddafhi.
