Severe weather warnings have been issued for East Sussex by the Met Office for the beginning of this week, with rain and gales expected from Monday night, with gusts of wind of more than 70 miles per hour predicted for costal areas.
Sussex Police said between 40 and 50 trees had fallen down overnight on Monday as a result of the winds, with several roads closed.
Firefighters in across Sussex dealt with about 90 weather-related calls on Monday, ranging from reports of flooding to problems with TV aerials.
The rain, which is expected to accompany the wind, is likely to give way to some heavy and blustery showers. The minimum temperature will be just 5'C.
The Met Office has put East Sussex on a yellow alert for both Monday and Tuesday.
Yellow is the first level of warning, with amber and red being the next two levels up.Experts at the Met Office are warning the bad weather conditions will continue into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
There will be showers during Tuesday, which look set to be heavy. Thunder and hail could also be a possibility.
The maximum temperature will be 9'C, but there is expected to be a chilly wind chill factor, so wrap up warm.
People are being advised that the rainfall has the potential to cause localised flooding from rivers and surface water, so people should take extra care when driving and keep an eye on the level of the River Ouse, no-one wants a repeat of the flooding of 2000.
Unfortunately the week doesn't get much better after Tuesday, according to the Met Office, the wintry conditions are expected to stay with us on Wednesday with showers and high winds.
After a promising start on Thursday with lighter winds and some sunshine, heavy rain and severe gales are likely to return Thursday night and during Friday.
