Update: Shivering in the cold climes of Lewes
By Raviliouse | Saturday, February 04, 2012, 11:00
Brr, it is a little bit cold outside. The ice making walking conditions on the hilly streets of Lewes all the more tricky. Although we have not experienced the worst of the weather recently offered too much of the country care should be taken.
Lewes District Council has a comprehensive list of advice on how to cope in these cold climes from road clearance to salt bins and beyond. The shops are still open, as are the pubs for that warming pint of Mother-in-Law.
The memory of Lewes coming to a standstill still lives large with me – at that point living on School Hill, at 4am the snow made it impassable for even police cars, nothing bar said pubs, were open, bar staff walking in from Ringmer (Sean at the John Harevy Tavern). Sleds were sold out (Inter Sport) and local transport came to a standstill.
Hopefully this cold snap will soon pass…UPDATE, it is snowing albeit not heavily.
